The first intelligent methanol dual fuel container ship in China was delivered today

On June 20th, the first domestically produced 16000 TEU methanol dual fuel container ship “COSCO Shipping Yangpu” was delivered on Changxing Island in Shanghai. The successful delivery of this ship has achieved three historic breakthroughs in the field of large-scale methanol dual fuel tank ship construction: the first order from a domestic shipowner, the first delivery from a domestic shipyard, and the first practical application of domestically produced methanol engines. The ship has a total length of 366 meters and a width of 51 meters, with a maximum packing capacity of 16136 TEUs. Equipped with an 11000 cubic meter ultra large methanol storage tank, after being put into operation on the Far East to East Coast route, it can support one-way navigation on the route without the need for refueling midway. The ship is equipped with the first domestically developed methanol dual fuel main engine and methanol dual fuel marine boiler by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, as well as the first methanol generator set applied to container ships in China. The dual fuel system can freely switch fuel modes according to route requirements.
